Shirla Winslow

Shirla Curdette Furr Winslow, 59, of Stanly County, passed away at her home on Thursday, November 8, 2012. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Danny Laws, will be held at South Albemarle Baptist Church on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at 2:00 pm. With a 30 minute state prior to the service. Burial will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory. At other times, the family will meet at her home She was born on April 16, 1953, in Stanly County, to the late Vernon Calvin Furr and Eloise Lillian Poplin Furr of Albemarle. Mrs. Winslow is survived by her husband of 21 years, Jay Wayne Winslow of Albemarle; one son, Chris Drye and son Jayden of Albemarle; four daughters, April Drye – Harryman and son Ganon of Albemarle; Summer Drye and sons Garin, Sterling, and Caisen of Tennessee, Gaye Laton and son Daniel of Albemarle; and Cheryl Handy and sons Chris, Alston, and Peyton of Efland, NC; one brother, Gene Furr of Albemarle; and a life long friend of 40 years Wanda Burnette. Shirla was a Montgomery County deputy sheriff. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter and grandmother. She dearly loved her grandchildren, taking them to the lake and dancing, she celebrated life to the fullest spreading love to all who knew her.
