Shirley Jean Hathcock, 79, of Stanfield, passed away Thursday, December 16, 2021 peacefully at her home with her husband Jim by her side holding her hand.
Jean was born November 12, 1942 in North Carolina to the late John Edgar Cato and the late Edna Mae Faulkenbury Cato.
She was also preceded in death by step-father, Lemuel Smith, sister, Gail Myers of Gastonia, NC, and brother, Wayne Cato of Stanfield, NC.
The graveside service will be held on Monday, December 20, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery in Stanfield officiated by Dr. Carey Snellings. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall following the service. Burial will be at the Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery at 12568 Philadelphia Church Rd., Stanfield.
Survivors include husband, Jimmy Lewis Hathcock of Stanfield, NC, son, Avery Todd Hathcock and wife, Lisa, and son, Marty Allen Hathcock, granddaughters, Lindsay Hathcock and Kendall Hathcock, and great-granddaughter, Aubrey Scott.
Jean loved flowers and gardening, going to the mountains or the beach, and she looooved to shop - but more than anything she loved her family, including her four legged babies.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County or Philadelphia Baptist Church.
