Shirley McDonald Hoggard

Shirley McDonald Hoggard, age 81, of 3539 Rock Hill Church Rd., Concord, died Sunday, April 6, 2025 at home. The family will have a private visitation on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord.

Shirley was born April 1, 1944, the daughter of the late Ernest L. McDonald and the late Geraldine Dene McDonald. Also preceded in death by two brothers, Eddie and Leonard (Sylvia) McDonald and her granddaughter, Kayley Harper Hoggard.

She is survived by her sons, Terry Ray (Kristina Harper) Hoggard, Sr. and Stephen (Heather Brenon) Hoggard as well as, 5 grandchildren: Terry Ray (Megan) Hoggard, Jr., Brittney Nicole Hoggard, Kendall Laine Harr, Cayce Lynn Hoggard and Crystal Ann Hoggard. She also has 3 great-grandchildren: Terry Ray Hoggard III, Xavier Remy Hoggard and Kai Ryker Hoggard. She is also survived by her sister, Ramona (Ray) Kelis and brother, Gary (Sybil) McDonald.

She was a baker and hosiery mill worker who lived a fulfilling life. She was a kind quiet soul. Her biggest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her later years included traveling to Disney, Universal, and Pigeon Forge. The last few years she had spent much time in the care of her granddaughter, Brittney, which allowed her to spend her final days at home which is what she wanted most.
