Shirley Thomas

Shirley Catherine Honeycutt Thomas, 72, of Locust, passed away Monday, October 31, 2011, in Carolinas Medical Center – NorthEast in Concord. Mrs. Thomas was born May 19, 1939 in Cabarrus County to the late Robert Velt Honeycutt and Texie Lee Harris Honeycutt. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 1, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, with a 30 minute state, at First Baptist Church of Locust officiated by Rev. Dr. Kinney Wallace. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. At other times, the family will meet at her home. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Ben Thomas; her son, Ben Allan Thomas of Locust; her grandson, Michael Allan Thomas; and her sister, JoAnn Sneed of Locust. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081. Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is serving the Thomas family.
