Shizuko Kimura Collins, 89, of Concord, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
Shizuko was born October 21, 1930 in Chibaken, Japan to the late Hiroshi and Tami Kimura. She was also preceded in death by her husband Marvin.
Shizuko was petite in stature and full of energy when it came to work. This was evident throughout her years of employment in the hosiery industry and also when she waitressed at Western Steer, Golden Corral and Ryan's Steakhouse where she eventually retired. She was well known by her customers for her dedication to providing top notch service. In her retirement years, Shizuko enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters, working in the yard and was an avid walker.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 18, 2020 from 1 - 2 p.m., at Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2 p.m. officiated by Ed Price.
Survivors include, daughter, Tami Mistry and husband Sanjay; and granddaughters Sophia and Madison of Harrisburg, North Carolina.
