Sonny Hinson

Sonny Junior Hinson, 72, of Stanfield, passed away Saturday after a short illness, August 18, 2018 at Transitions Life Care in Raleigh.

Sonny was born April 15, 1946 in Stanly County to the late Claude Christopher Hinson and the late Pauline Vivian Hinson.  He was also preceded in death by first wife, Mary Frances Hinson, two sisters, Kathleen Love and Nellie Mae Whitley; four brothers, Levi C., Buddy, Billy and Terry Hinson.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will be on Wednesday at 10:00 am in the Hartsell Funeral Home chapel and will be officiated by Rev. Darrell Nance and Rev. Carol Whitley. Burial will follow at the Kinza Memorial Church Cemetery in Stanfield.

Survivors include wife, Maureen Ann Hinson of Willow Spring, NC; son, Steven Hinson of Stanfield; brother, Carl Lanie Hinson and wife Carmen, of Red Cross; two step-daughters, Courtney Titus-Costello and husband Aaron of Fuquay-Varina, and Lauren Haley and husband Mike, of Falmouth, MA; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Sonny was an avid golfer. He enjoyed all sports, especially baseball, and attending his nieces' softball games. He loved traveling with his family. He was a lifetime carpenter and contactor who was always willing to lend a helping hand and support to those in need.
