Sterling "Stan" Cavaness

Sterling "Stan" Cavaness, 69, of Harrisburg, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2018 at his home in Harrisburg.

"Stan the Man" was born March 8, 1949 in Nebraska to the late Amos Ardell Cavaness and Mary Evelyn Turner. He was also preceded in death by his wife Sandra Gayle Cavaness, and brothers, Marvin Cavaness and Greg Higgins and sisters, Myrtle Palmer, Nelda Walborn, Carol Ann White, and Kathleen Derrick.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home, 12115 University City Blvd., Harrisburg, NC 28075. The funeral service will be on Saturday at 2:00 pm officiated by Rev. Ray Helms. The family will continue to receive friends following the service. Closing with a Last Ride with the Harrisburg Cruisers.

Survivors include his brother, Eldon Cavaness; son Richard (Melinda) Ross of Hopkinsville, KY; daughters, Candy Cavaness of Harrisburg, NC; Carissa (Rob) Severson of Phoenix, AZ;  Caralee (Jonathan) Cavaness of Kannapolis, NC; Melissa (Jeffrey) Schneider of Harrisburg, NC; 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great, great-grandchild.
