Sue Lowder

Janna Sue Blalock Lowder, 73 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord.

Sue was born August 14, 1942 in Norwood to the late James Lockie Blalock and the late Maude Rae Harris Blalock. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Sherry Lynn Lowder; and brother, Jimmy Blalock.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be at 3:00 pm on Monday, April 18, 2016 at Norwood Church of the Nazarene, officiated by Rev. Jim Davis. She will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. The burial will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory, 2001 East Main St., Albemarle. At other times, the family will be gathering at the home.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Kenneth Eugene Lowder of the home; daughters, Angie Shumate and husband John of Oak Ridge, and Krista Bowers and husband Randy of Albemarle; grandchildren, Raylin Thompson, Jessup Bowers, and Colby Bowers; brother, Tim Blalock and wife Sherry of Lawrenceville, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sue was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was strong and selfless, and always lived by her faith. She put her family first. Sue would open the door to anyone and make them feel like they were at home. She was known for her sweet tea, pickles, potato salad, and pound cake.
