Susan Barbee

Susan Whitley Barbee, 65 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Monday, February 6, 2017 at Carolinas ContinueCARE Hospital at Pineville in Charlotte.

Mrs. Barbee was born April 18, 1951 to the late Gerald and Jeanette Efird Whitley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Melvin Wagoner. Mrs. Barbee served the children of the Stanly County School System for 17 years. She worked with Partnership for Children for several years, as well as a few local preschool programs. Susan enjoyed many things in life such as studying genealogy and reading, but most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Friday, February 10, 2017 at Shepherd's Chapel Community Church, 351 N. 1st Street, Albemarle. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11:00 am at Shepherd's Chapel Community Church officiated by Pastor Jay Weemhoff. Burial will follow in the St. Martin's Lutheran Church Cemetery at 16592 St Martin Rd, Albemarle.

Survivors include: husband of 45 years, Doug Barbee; daughters, Heather Barbee, Heidi and husband Nick Jacobi; son, Jon and wife Tiffany Barbee; grandchildren, Luke and William Jacobi, Bryson, Brennan, and Cora Barbee; brother, Joel Whitley, sisters, Leah McIlwaine and Linda Schweizer.
