Susan Frey

Susan Frances Frey (nee Mick), 80 of Albemarle, NC passed away peacefully on Monday, July 20, 2020 with family by her side. She was born January 24, 1940 in Weston, WV, the daughter of the late Ralph C. and Mary H. Mick. Susan was preceded in death by her loving husband William D. (Bill) Frey, Jr.
Susan excelled in everything she did. From Tupperware to owning her own business to the hospitality industry, she enjoyed a varied and accomplished professional life. She concluded her professional life in the trucking industry when she and Bill found a career they could do while traveling. They completed truck driving school together and enjoyed working as an over-the-road truck driving team until Bill’s death in 1994. During her retirement years she enjoyed flower gardening, writing, and time with her family.
In addition to her parents and husband, Susan was preceded in death by her son, Charles Kenneth Isner; three sisters, Lucile Ward, Jean Anderson, and Judith Skeen; and two brothers, William Mick and Franklin Mick.
She is survived by two siblings, John Mick of Grafton, WV and Pamela Mick, also of Grafton; five children, Kim Dickey and husband Bruce of Midland, NC, Kevin Isner of Flemington, WV, Patti Page of Midland, NC, Cindy Dean and husband Daniel of Albemarle, NC, Judi Parks and partner Randy Ballentine of Mooresville, NC; seven grandchildren, Lauren Martin, Whitney Lynch, Zachary Parks and partner Ali Tarner, Jordan Parks and wife Angelina, Savannah Parks, Shelby Pate and husband Brandon, Steven Page; twelve great-grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Susan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, and was a role model and inspiration to many.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 26, 2020 from 12 - 2 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The service will follow at 2 pm in the chapel, with Rev. Reese Linnell officiating.
