Suzanne Marie Dunning Whitmore, 65, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2017 at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Rock Hill, SC. She was born on December
10, 1951 in Fulton, New York to Herbert and Dorothy Dunning.

Suzanne grew up in Vermillion, New York and graduated from Mexico Academy High School in Mexico, New York in 1969. She then later received her nursing certification from Oswego County BOCES L.P.N. program. She worked for several independent doctors in the Oswego area, as well as Pontiac Nursing Home and St. Luke's Elder Care program but found her passion as supervising coordinator of the activities and educational programs for mentally challenged seniors at ARC of Oswego County where she worked for eleven years before retiring to North Carolina.

Suzanne married her high school sweetheart, Leonard John Whitmore Jr., on July 26, 1969. They were happily married for just under 48 years.

Suzanne is survived by four siblings and her spouse, Leonard of Locust, NC; her daughter, Christine Schurhammer (John); son, Scott Whitmore (Cathleen); son, Travis Whitmore (Shelley); her grandchildren, Noah, Jared, Tyler, Samantha, Gabriella, Juliet; and great-grandchild Zeke.

Suzanne was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Midland, NC and never passed up an opportunity to volunteer within her community and do charity & mission work with her church. She had a passion for cooking (especially making her famous Christmas cookies), enjoyed playing golf, and playing games with friends and family. Her greatest accomplishment was her children.

A memorial service will be held at Bethel United Methodist Church at 12700 Idlebrook Rd Midland, North Carolina on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 2:00 pm officiated by Rev. Mark Clontz.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Bethel United Methodist Church, St, Stephens Fund, 12700 Idlebrook Road, Midland, NC 28107.

Condolences may be sent to the Whitmore family at 207 Maple St., Locust, NC 28097.
