Swann Mcclure

Swann McClure, 86, of 144 Madison Avenue NE Concord formerly of Waynesville passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at his home. He was born on February 14, 1925 in Haywood County, NC to the late Lucius Gaither and Omie Rhinehart McClure. He was youngest of nine children, having four deceased brothers and three deceased sisters. Swann joined the US Navy April 21, 1943. Swann served in the Navy during WW II. He was a member of Cross View Baptist Church. A visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord on Wednesday, September 28th from 6 until 8 PM. Funeral services will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home Concord chapel on Thursday, September 29th at 11 AM, with Rev. Brandon King officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. He is survived by his wife, Ruby McClure of the home; daughters, Hazel Robinson and husband Barry, Ruth Burleson and husband Shearon, and Kathy Howell and husband Keith all of Concord; sons, Swann McClure and wife Shay of Concord, Dennis McClure and wife Kim of Kannapolis, Bobby McClure and wife Celeste of Concord, and Brandon McClure and wife Katie of Concord seventeen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister Launa McClure Jones.
