Sybil Marguerite Winecoff Barnhardt, of Concord, NC, passed away peacefully after an extended illness Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Sybil was born in Concord, NC, March 2, 1928, to the late Viola Irvin Winecoff and the late James Marvin Winecoff. She was preceded in death by her parents, her infant son, Jimmy Barnhardt, her husband, David Wayne Barnhardt, sisters Christine Winecoff Caldwell, and Wyenne Winecoff Duncan. She is survived by her loving and devoted son, Dennis Wayne Barnhardt; niece, Susie Caldwell of Atlanta and nephew, Rob Duncan (Beth) and great-nephews Gavin and Griffin Duncan, of Taylorsville.
Sybil graduated from Concord High School in 1945 and attended Pfeiffer College. She was cafeteria manager at Northwest Cabarrus High School for 24 years where she lovingly encouraged many young people while providing great food. Sybil was a life-long devoted member of Ann Street United Methodist Church where she served as Treasurer for 20 years. Food, finances and sewing were her passions.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 12:45 pm, Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Ann Street United Methodist Church, 335 Ann St., Concord, NC 28025. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm, officiated by Rev. Alan Thompson. After the service, she will be buried at the Oakwood Cemetery in Concord, NC with her husband, Wayne Barnhardt.
The family would like to thank the staff of Atrium Hospice, Concord Place and The Landings of Cabarrus for their care and compassion of Sybil. Thanks to special family friends, David and Starr Black for their constant love and support.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Ann Street United Methodist Church in remembrance of Sybil.
