Sylvia Kimmer

Sylvia Dianne Morton Kimmer, 65, of Albemarle, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Carolinas HealthCare System NorthEast in Concord.

Dianne was born January 28, 1952 in Stanly County to the late Ellis Laton Morton and the late Rena Estelle Hathcock Morton.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 from 5 - 7pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The service to celebrate her life will follow at 7pm in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Steve Mills officiating. At other times, the family will be gathering at the home.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, David Richard Kimmer of the home; daughter, Rena Kimmer Mills and husband Steve of Albemarle; son, Dee Ellis Kimmer and wife Jennie of Albemarle; grandson, Samuel Logan Mills of Albemarle; brother, Roger Dale Morton and wife Cindy of Chapel Hill; niece and nephew, Brittany and Adam; and many beloved pets.

Dianne was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was the rock of the family, always being the caretaker to everyone around her. Dianne's love of genealogy was reflected in her favorite hobbies, cooking and sewing. She had excellent culinary skills, and cooked for historical groups from that historic era. She also was a seamstress and made garments for historical reenactments. Dianne also loved to make jewelry and was an avid reader. She had a love of animals and rescued many. Dianne will be sorely missed by all those who knew her.
