Sylvia Caudle Maness, 83, of Matthews, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 1, 2023.
Sylvia was born September 4, 1939 in Stanly County to the late Dallas and Essie Caudle. She was also preceded in death by her former husband, Jimmy Reid Maness; and brothers, Evans and Edwin Caudle; and grandson, Gary Michael Hucks, Jr.
Sylvia was a lifelong employee of Bank of America and its predecessor companies. Although she made lifelong friends at the bank, the day of her retirement was a very happy day. She enjoyed gardening, listening to music and spending time with family. Sylvia especially loved rocking her grandchildren and feeding them her special grits, bacon and toast.
Her survivors include the children she loved beyond measure: three sons, Gerald, Jeff, and Derek Maness; and one daughter, Melanie (Ashley) Jerman. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, Casey (Brittany) Maness, Cameron (Worth) Thomasson, Brandon Hucks, Garrett (Caitlin) Maness, Savannah (Jordan) Maness, and Emma Grace Maness; 4 great-grandchildren, Lyla Kate Thomasson, Tristan and Asher Maness, and Allie Leigh Winebarger (due soon). She is also survived by her precious sister, Lorene Caudle Ledford and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 12:45 pm, Friday, August 4, 2023, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service in celebration of Sylvia's life will follow at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, officiated by Rev. Joe Mullis.
