Sylvia Nichols Traynham

Sylvia Nichols Traynham, 83 of Harrisburg, North Carolina, sadly left this world on Thursday, March 6, 2025. After a life richly lived in service and kindness, she is now in the presence of Jesus.

Sylvia was born September 28, 1941, in Montgomery County, North Carolina to the late Ray and Naomi Nichols.

More than life itself, Sylvia loved her husband, Carey Traynham. They celebrated almost 63 years of marriage together.

Sylvia’s children, grandchildren, & great grandson were her pride and joy. In addition to her husband, Sylvia is survived by her son, Todd Traynham and wife, Alyce, and daughter, Tammy Thomas and husband, Phil. Her grandbabies, Heather (Nathan), Luke, Micah (Kyleigh), and Thomas, were always spoiled by MawMaw and will miss her dearly. Being a great grandma to Miles was such a great joy to her. She is also survived by her brothers and sister whom she loved dearly: Raymond Nichols (Pat), Richard Nichols (Margaret), Cathy York (Wayne), and Danny Nichols (Patsy) as well as a host of nieces & nephews.

Her departure comes as a great shock and a deep wound, and it is gravely felt by her entire family and countless others who loved her deeply.

A memorial service to honor Sylvia will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 1:00 pm at King's Church Charlotte. The family will receive friends following the service.
