Ted Scott

"Here I am in all my Glory"

.....On Saturday, May 26, 2018 The Great Watasha, also known as Ted Lynn Scott rode his golden chariot to Heaven to be with his heavenly family. He was met by his father, Leroy Allison; his mother, Esther Kluttz; two brothers, Ross and Hall Scott; his sister, Adelaide Bonds; and his wife of 42 years, Sandra Barnhardt Scott.

Ted served in the US Army from 1954-1956. He was assigned to Company B, 75th regiment, that was stationed in Okinawa Japan.

After retiring from Ross & Witmer in 1999, Ted became a community advocate by volunteering at many organizations. He became involved with Relay for Life, The Civitan Club, Meals on Wheels and Palliative Care.

Ted had shared so much of himself with the world. His passion for family and friends was immeasurable. He strongly believed in Christianity and his Family. He served on the consistory of New Gilead Reformed Church, and proudly sang in the church choir. He never met a stranger. And if he couldn't remember your name, he would just call you Sam. Ted was able to spread the word of Christ by simply being seen in the world as he would like to see the world be.

Ted felt honored to be a volunteer for Hospice of Cabarrus County. For many years, he designed, created and hand made the stained glass Christmas Angels sold at the Carolina Mall to raise money for the Hospice organization. The entire collection can be seen at the Hospice House located in Kannapolis. In February 2018, Ted retired from the volunteer position he held at the Oncology Center at NorthEast Hospital Cancer Center. He held his service for 18 years and almost 7000 hours. The program of "No One Dies Alone" at NorthEast Hospital was dear to Ted's heart. His belief in people needing love drove his desire to sit next to a dying patients bed. He could not bear to let a person leave this earth without a prayer or song.

Ted Scott had many personal endeavors in life too! He loved a good adventure. He rode in a hot air balloon, flew in a hang glider at Kitty Hawk, and learned to swim at the golden age of 80. Ted loved being a world traveler and explorer. In the last five years his travels included Europe, Alaska and California.

His talents and skills collected him many Gold Medals from the Senior Olympics. He also liked to sit in on the jam sessions at the Cabarrus Senior Center. He never missed the opportunity to eat pancakes at the annual Boys and Girls Club fundraiser.

Dubbed the Mayor of North Carolina, he was a staunch Republican that enjoyed debates on all the political issues. You might hear his famous phrase of "Watch what my lips is fixin' to say....."

Being a world renowned food critic, Ted Scott had "Reserved" seating at the many fine restaurants of Cabarrus County. A few of his favorites included Breakfastime, the Wayside, Troutman's Bar-b-que and Punchy's. You could find Ted sitting in a booth enjoying a leisurely breakfast with the local newspaper on just about any day of the week.

He left many wonderful friends and family on earth to be charged with his legacy of love.....His Best Friend and love of his life, Maryann Farrell. His son Jaimie Scott and wife (May). Their children, Jeremy Lynn Scott, Marco Lynn Scott, Stephan Louis Roller, Karen Michelle Roller and great-granddaughter, Lydia Lynn Scott. His son John Scott, grandson Brandon Lee Scott and his wife, Veronica, and great-grandson, Jameson Alasdair Scott.

As you can see, Ted's life was full of purpose, love, joy and happiness...it is well with his soul.

The viewing will be May 30, 2018 from 5-8 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be May 31st at New Gilead Reformed Church at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, Ted requested donations be sent to Hospice of Cabarrus County.
