Teddy Lynn Foreman, passed from this life to eternity on February 5, 2022 after a courageous battle against cancer.
Ted was born on November 17, 1950, one of 11 siblings and the son of the late Charles Henderson Foreman and Nellie Drye Foreman. Ted lived his life in Oakboro, NC befriending all he met throughout Stanly County. Ted was born and grew to manhood on the banks of Rocky River and loved life to the fullest.
Ted Foreman has forgotten more about horses and horsemanship than most others will ever know. His great joy in life was training horses and their riders to be one in spirit. Ted was instrumental in chartering the American Saddlebred Association of the Carolinas serving as president of that body for many years. Ted operated his own stables for over fifty years, sharing his wisdom and knowledge with riders young and old. All who knew him affectionately called him a true "Horse Whisperer" acknowledging his ability to understand the animals he loved so much. His great life honor was being inducted into the United Professional Horseman Association Hall of Fame in 2009. Ted's other great love in life was training and managing champion Walker Hounds, most especially Rocky River Bolo, a Grand Knight Champion.
Ted's love for life was made complete with his family and friends. He loved every minute spent with his siblings and children sharing family get-togethers "down on the river" and particularly at the Setback Tournaments. All who knew Ted knew him as a mediator who could help mend fences between neighbors and encourage folks to find a common ground on which to build stronger relationships. He was a man of character and integrity, a true southern gentleman.
Ted is survived by his sons, Chad Foreman and Scottie Foreman and partner, Pam Smith. He is also survived by two beloved grandchildren, Heidi Foreman Haney and husband, Dalton and Kanyon Foreman. Of the 11 siblings, Ted is survived by his brother, Junior and sisters, Barbara, Hilda, and Mary. In the circle of his family, Ted is also survived by multiple nieces and nephews and cherished friend, Anita Simpson.
The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Union and Stanly County or the UPHA Dewey Henderson Benevolence Fund, UPHA, Inc., 4059 Iron Works Parkway, #2 Lexing, KY 40511.
