Terry Carter

Terry Eugene Carter, 59, of Albemarle, passed away Friday, June 15, 2012 at his home. Mr. Carter was born February 5, 1953 in Cabarrus County to the late Luther Thomas Carter and Frances Ophelia Whitaker Carter. He was a 25 year veteran of the United States Marines and a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. The family will receive friends from 4 – 6, Sunday, June 17, at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. The funeral service will be at 6:00 in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel in Midland officiated by Rev. Chuck Overcash. Burial will be Monday at 2 p.m. in the Oakboro Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be presented by the Stanly County DAV Chapter 12. At other times, the family will meet at the home of his sister, Gayle Medford, at 5033 Navion Place in Concord. Survivors include his wife, Dolores Ann Hart Carter of the home; his daughter, Amy Simpson of Concord; his step-son, Robert Vanderburg and his wife, Angel, of Gold Hill; his step-daughter, Christina Vanderburg and Robert Weirich of Kannapolis; his sisters, Peggy Ledwell and her husband, Robert of Concord and Gail Medford and her husband, Mike of Concord; his nephews, Patrick and Bobby; his step-daughter, Melissa Vanderburg; his grandchildren, Alisha and Devin; and his step-grandchildren, Aaron and Zayne Vanderburg and Maverick Heilig. Memorials may be sent to the Stanly County Humane Society, 650 NC 24/27 Bypass East, Albemarle, NC 28001. Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is serving the Carter family.
