Thelma "Mama II" Alley, 84, of 530 N. Fourth Street, Albemarle, died peacefully surrounded by her family, Nov. 23, 2009, at Carolinas Medical Center. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Wednesday, Nov. 25, at Hartsell Funeral Home -Albemarle. The family meeting place is at her son's home, Tommy Alley, 28081 Austin Rd., Albemarle. Funeral service will be at 11 AM, Friday, Nov. 27, with a 30 Minute State at First Baptist Church, Albemarle, where she was a member. Roger Thomas and grandson, Matthew Alley, will officiate. Burial will be at 3 PM, Friday, Nov. 27, at Forsyth Memorial Park, 3771 Yadkinville Rd., Winston-Salem, NC. Born April 10, 1925, in Forsyth County, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Joseph and Texie Hollifield Buchanan and was a retired payroll technician for Stanly Regional Medical Center. She was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi and volunteered at the hospital and church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Taylor Alley, Sr. She is survived by three sons, Tommy Alley, Jr., of Albemarle, Joe Alley and wife Tina of Gastonia, and Sam Alley and wife Sara of Anderson, SC.;a sister Mary Alice Grubbs of Myrtle Beach, SC., six grandchildren, Travis, Tracy, Wesley, Matthew, Nate and Samantha Alley; and four great-grandchildren.
