Theodore “Ted” Roger McCoy formerly from Dayton, OH, 76 years of age, passed away on Sunday July 6, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was born November 5, 1937 in Wharton, WV to the late Harry A. McCoy,. and Nancy Straughan McCoy.

Ted is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Barbara “Bobbie” Swallen McCoy, daughter Kelly McCoy Jones and husband Andy Jones of Concord, NC, son Timothy Robert McCoy of Kannapolis, NC, daughter Elise McCoy Trabucco and husband Steve Trabucco of Huntersville, NC. Ted’s pride and joy were his 5 grandchildren: Andrew Calvin Jones, Hamilton McCoy Jones, Robert Timothy Jones, Jacob Roger Trabucco and Georgia Amelia Trabucco. Ted is also survived by sisters, Janice Erle Cole and Betty Wert; brothers, William McCoy, Jim McCoy, Randy McCoy and Bob McCoy; and multitude of beloved nieces, nephews and cousins

Ted is preceded in death by sisters, Louise Hall, Billie Parker and Nancy Lally; brothers, John McCoy and Harry McCoy.

Ted was a 1955 graduate of Stivers High School in Dayton, OH. He attended Otterbein College where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. He also attended the University of Dayton. He served in the US Marine Corp Reserves.

Ted worked in the furniture industry for 47 years. He was part owner of South Dayton Home Furnishings, Inc. For the past 5 years he has worked for Cabarrus County Schools in Concord, NC as a school bus driver. Ted loved spending time at the McCoy family cabin on the Greenbrier River in WV.

The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home at 460 Branchview Dr. Concord, NC. On July 12, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Graveside services for the family will be held at Carolina Memorial Park on July 13 at 2:00 pm followed by a memorial service at First Presbyterian Church - 70 Union St. N. Concord, NC 28025 at 3:00.

Memorials in Ted’s honor can be made to First Presbyterian Church of Concord or Tucker Hospice House of Cabarrus County 5003 Hospice Ln, Kannapolis, NC 28081 or American Society of Hematology 2021 L Street NW Suite 900, Washington, DC 20036.
