Bridger Clontz Thomas Bridger Clontz, 89, of Hopewell Church Road, Monroe, NC, went to be with the Lord Sunday, August 15, 2010, at Carolinas Medical Center - Union, Monroe, NC. Mr. Clontz was born July 23, 1921, in Union County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Baxter and Ollie Helms Clontz; infant son, Thomas Billy Clontz in 1948; brothers, Grady, Barker, Donald and J. C.; and sisters, Kathleen Carpenter, Joyce Russell, and Betty Thomas. He served three and one half years in the U. S. Army/AirForce during WWII as an aircraft mechanic. He was retired from Cannon Mills in Kannapolis, NC. After retirement, he worked at Service Distributor in Midland for five years. He was a member of Wayside Baptist Church. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 17, 6:00 – 8:00, Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland. The funeral service will be Wednesday, 2:00 p.m., in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, Midland, with Rev. Richard Collins and Rev. Mike Mullis officiating. Burial will follow at Wayside Baptist Church, Drake Road, Midland. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Mary Lou Mullis Clontz of the home, sons, Larry Clontz and wife, Ann, of Oakboro, Roger Clontz and wife, Gillie, of Monroe, Ronnie Clontz and wife, Karen, of Monroe, Gerald Clontz and wife, Amy, of Midland; daughters, Diane C. McLain and husband, Donald, of Midland, Doris C. Little and husband, Ronald, of Marshville, Vicki C. Eudy, and husband, Larry, of Oakboro, Nadine C. Tucker and husband Henry “Tuckâ€, of Monroe; 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Edith Austin and Chattie Jean Wilson, both of Concord, and Jerrie Hasty of Monroe.
