Thomas Joseph Cronin

On Wednesday, November 29th, Thomas Joseph Cronin left us to be reunited with his beautiful, beloved wife of nearly 40 years, Helen. He is survived by his daughter Angela Beck, who with her husband John Beck gave him four wily grandchildren: Joseph, William, Elliot, and Autumn, who will all miss his warmth, his laughter, and his hugs very, very much. 

Tom was born on January 2nd, 1947 in White Plains, New York. After enlisting in the United States Air Force and serving a tour in Vietnam, Tom went to school at Charlotte College (now the University of North Carolina at Charlotte) and went on to become Technology Support specialist at IBM, where he would have a long career, retiring with full benefits. At home, Tom was a consummate grill master who spent many an evening in front of the grill smoking his pipe and cooking meals to fastidious perfection; His ribs, steaks, and smoked Thanksgiving turkeys were the stuff of legend. If you were invited to dinner at Tom & Helen’s, it was never a question of “if,” but “how soon can I get there?” 

As devoted to his adopted canine family as he was to the rest of us, Tom spent his later years dutifully loving and caring for his dogs Spanky, Sophie, and Harley. 

Visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord, NC on Wednesday, December 13th from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. A service for family and close friends will be held at Salisbury National Cemetery. Details will be provided upon request once details are available.
