Thomas Deal

Thomas Edward “Doc” Deal of Concord, NC, passed away quietly September 7, 2013 with his loving family around him. Mr. Deal was born on June 1, 1922 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, to the late DeWitt and Lula Deal, who preceded him in passing as did his brother Clarence Deal and his sister Annie May Deal. He was employed by Cannon Mills until his retirement and spent his leisure time often farming his vegetable garden and continued his love of farming in his retirement. He loved family, friends, and was a devoted husband to the late Veta Thomas Deal. The joy he found in farm life and animals was profound, but his beloved pugs were his world, especially in his final years. He is survived by his sons, Larry E. Deal, Sr. (and wife, Mary Ann); Thomas E. “Tommy” Deal (and wife, Jeanette); and Charlie R. Deal; and his daughter Phyllis Deal Roseman (and husband, Chris). His grandchildren, Larry E. Deal, Jr. (and wife, Carrie); Jason Deal; Tina Chunn (and husband, Jeff); Lynette Harrington (and husband, Brad); Chris Roseman, Jr. (and girlfriend, Lauren); Candace Fernandez (and husband, Carlos); and Kevin Deal. His great grandchildren, Kassidy and Morgan Chunn and Wade Harrington. His nephews, Ray Deal (and wife, Sue) and Ron Deal; and a niece, Kathy Paxton (and husband, Sam). And, his beloved and devoted canine companion, Minnie. A service in his memory will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation preceding the service at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Hartsell Funeral Home, with Dr. Eugene Hunsinger officiating. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery will follow.
