Thomas Jefferson Green, beloved husband of Elizabeth Louise (Betty Lou) Bollinger Green, passed away on August 9, 2011, at his home in Concord, NC due to complications from a stroke suffered in December, 2010. Thomas, known to everyone as “Tomâ€, will be remembered as a caring and doting husband, a wonderful father, and a loving “Pop-Pop†to his grandchildren. He absolutely loved cooking (with Italian cuisine as his specialty), spending time at the local driving range hitting golf balls with his family, and joke telling. Tom will also be remembered as a great friend, a man who was quick to help someone out, and who lived his life with the utmost honesty, integrity, and humility. Thomas was born on October 31, 1934 in Johnson City, NY. He was the son of the late Angelina and Charles Clayton Green, and step-son of the late Leo Eagen. Thomas was preceded in death by his infant brother, Charles Green. Following graduation from Vestal Senior High School in New York, he served in the US Air Force in Salina, Kansas as an electronic technician from May, 1957 to May, 1961. He was then employed with IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY for 26 years as a Senior Computer Programmer and a Staff Level Project Leader. Mr. Green moved to Concord, NC in 1992 and was employed as a technical consultant with First Union and Wachovia until his retirement in 2005. His survivors include his wife; daughter Lauren G. Antanaitis and her husband Benjamin Antanaitis, III; daughter Jaqueline M. Keel and her husband Jamie Keel; and daughter Janine M. Bryant and her husband Michael S. Bryant. In addition, Mr. Green is survived by four grandchildren: Daniel Thomas Green, Melyssa Guerin, Madison Bryant, and Benjamin Antanaitis, IV. Mr. Green is also survived by Richard Guerin, father of Melyssa. Other immediate family include Mr. Green’s sister Grace Roma and her husband Gene Roma of Endicott, NY; their children Christine Roma, Eugene Roma, Jr. and his fiancée Susan Inneo, Leslie Roma, and Michael Roma. Two great-nephews, Liam and Michael Roma, also survive Mr. Green. The Green family would also like to acknowledge close family members and friends: the Salvemini, Giorgio and Capozzi Families of Binghamton, NY, the Cleland/Abizaid Family, the Gilmore Family of Wilton, CT, the Henebery Family of Wappingers Falls, NY, and the Chittick Family of Concord, NC. Visitation hours will be on Thursday, August 11, 2011, from 7:00-9:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home, 460 Branchview Drive NE, Concord, NC. A private family mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1400 Suther Road, Charlotte, NC on Friday, August, 12, at 10:30 am, followed by interment at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis, NC.
