Thomas Michael "Tom" McCluskey 70, 0f 36432 Poplin Road New London passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Stanly Regional Medical Center. Born on October 10, 1939 in Plattsburg, NY to the late Clarence Thomas and the late Rose Elizabeth Patnode McCluskey. The family meeting place will be the home. Mr. McCluskey was a veteran of the US Army. He retired after 30 years with IBM. He also had his own sales business, preparing taxes, accounting work, and property appraisals. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at Salem United Methodist Church on Sunday, July 25, 2010 at 2 PM, with the Rev. Jacquelin Tookey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, where the family will visit at the graveside. Graveside military rites will be performed by the Stanly County DAV chapter 12. Survived by: wife, best friend, and Partner for 28 years, Peggy Ruth Kepley McCluskey of the home; children, Annita Raskoskie and husband David of Matthews, Thomas C. McCluskey and wife Hanan of Indian Trail, Christine Underwood of WV, Megan Boling and husband Josh of Indian Trail; brother, William McCluskey of Canton, NY; sister, Nancy McCluskey of Canton, NY; and 15 grandchildren.
