Thomas Earl Somerville, age 76, of Mount Pleasant, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017.
Tom was born July 8, 1941, to the late Nicholson and Viola Somerville. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era. Tom played football for Ohio University and the United States Air Force. He was a District Manager with the McCrory Corp. and a longtime manager with Walmart. Tom was instrumental in the formation and success of the Habitat for Humanity Restore, which began over 10 years ago in Cabarrus County. He has been a member of Saint James the Greater Catholic Church for 35 years. Tom's most recent ministry was at the Salvation Army Night Shelter providing meals for the homeless. He also enjoyed playing golf and attending PGA events with his son and grandson.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at Saint James the Greater Catholic Church, 139 Manor Ave SW, Concord.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 49 years, Therese Somerville; daughter, Heather (Charles) Harper of Concord; son, Jason (Kathryn) Somerville of Charlotte; grandson, Seth Roberts; granddaughter, Lily Somerville; granddaughter, Nina Somerville; grandson, Johnathan (Kara) Harper of Lexington; granddaughter, Amanda Harper of Lexington; great-grandchildren, Landon Harper, Aiden Harper and Hudsyn Harper of Lexington; and brother, John Somerville of Bellaire, Ohio.
