Thomas Suggs

Thomas Milton Suggs, 87, of Concord, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2023, at The Gardens of Taylor Glen in Concord.

Tom was born in Gaston County to the late Ralph Marvin Suggs and the late Catherine Wilson Sparrow Suggs.  He was also preceded in death by brothers, Bob and Larry Suggs,  and sister, Mary Ann Clemmer.

Tom was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. Tom attended NC State University and Belmont Abbey. He worked as computer programmer for Cannon Mills. As Executive VP at Cabarrus Bank and Trust, one of his many accomplishments was installing the first ATM in Cabarrus County. He also worked as an insurance agent for NC Farm Bureau. After retiring, He started Beeline courier service, where he made trips as far away as Canada and throughout the United States.

Tom used his leadership skills to support his sons as a Band Booster and in Boy Scouts.. He also volunteered to support his community. Tom was recognized as volunteer of the year for Meals on Wheels and took great pride in participating as guardian ad litem for Cabarrus County court system. He maintained an interest in woodworking with his sons and with his brother Bob. He enjoyed traveling the United States in a camper with his beloved wife, Joyce.

Survivors include beloved wife of 64 years, Joyce Mahaffey Suggs of Concord; son, Mark (Patricia) Suggs of Belmont; son, Eric (Mary Lynn) Suggs of Huntersville; son, Philip (Traci) Suggs of Charlotte; son, Cary (Lisa) Suggs of Monroe; 6 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The memorial service in celebration of Tom's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Westford United Methodist Church, 273 Highway 49 S Concord, NC 28025 Officiated by Rev. Jeffrey Rushing.
