Thurman Cranford

Thurman Branson Cranford, 87, of 34456 Springdale Drive, New London, NC 28127, passed away on February 8, 2011 at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 10 from 6-8 PM at Hartsell Funeral Home; at other times the family will meet at the home. The service will be held Friday, February 11 at 11 AM at Bethany United Methodist Church with a 30-minute state. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Tim Whittington will officiate the services. Mr. Cranford was born in Davidson County on September 14, 1923 to the late Add and Della Cranford. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, John Henry Cranford, Ralph Cranford; his sisters, Mable Troutman, and Patsy Hathcock. He was a charter member of Bethany Volunteer Fire Department. During his life he was an active member at Bethany United Methodist Church, where he previously served in many roles. He was a member of the administrative board, usher team, and United Methodist Men. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Cranford is survived by his spouse Lucille Cranford of the home; sons, Thurman “Bran” Cranford Jr. and wife Sophia of New London, David C. Cranford and wife Kayce of Stanfield; sister, Martha Bowers of Albemarle; grandchildren, Amber Cranford, Thurman B. “Trey” Cranford III, Luke and Levi Cranford; and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made, in lieu of flowers, to the Bethany UMC Piano Fund, 2411 US Hwy 52 N, Albemarle, NC 28001. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Cranford family.
