Timothy Scott Mullins was born in Montgomery, Ala. on Feb. 8, 1973 and departed peacefully on June 8, 2017. He fought a courageous battle up until the very end against that most vile disease, cancer, with an incredibly upbeat attitude and a smile for everyone who saw him.
Tim was first and foremost a man of tremendous faith. It was said that if he was not at Sunday service check the hospital because he had been admitted. He considered no other excuse valid for his not being in attendance. He gave generously of his time and efforts to the Pitts Baptist youth group where his children were also active, especially in the areas of missions and Creative Ministries. Tim loved teaching youth how to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ through different mediums like drama, clowning and puppetry.
In addition to his faith, Tim was a devoted family man. He was a loving husband of 21 years to his wife, Karen, who he met during college. They shared a love of all things Georgia Tech, even during losing seasons, and supported each other as they pursued their engineering passions. Tim was an adoring father to his children, Drew and Hannah Rose, and insisted on being a hands-on dad. He was not afraid to fly cross country by himself with his 11-month-old son, nor did he mind playing “The Princess Game” with his little girl. From Tim, his son learned to be a man of integrity and to love all things electronic. His daughter learned to respect everyone including herself and how to build robots and metal models, and inherited Tim’s love for Dr. Who.
Tim’s other great love was softball. He played at every opportunity, usually pitching for his church team. He was a tremendous competitor who played to win every time yet was a great sport and team player. Tim wasn’t known to hit balls over the fence, but he could put a ball right down the first base line and get a double or triple most times.
Tim is survived by his wife, Karen, and children, Drew and Hannah Rose, of the home, his parents Harold and Joyce Mullins, sisters Pam (Sean) Rose and Paula Mullins, nieces Ashlynn and Cayla, nephews Ethan and Gareth, and many friends and extended family.
Visitation for Mr. Mullins will be held, Sunday, June 11 from 1:30 - 3 p.m., at Pitts Baptist Church in Concord. Service will follow at 3 p.m.
