Concord

Tommie Woodcock Zimmerman-Hughes, 83, of Concord, NC went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 4, 2021.

Tommie was born July 17, 1937 in Pelzer, SC to the late Thomas and Trula Woodcock.  She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Julie Zimmerman Vanderbleek (2015) and sister, Betty Brown (1993).

Tommie graduated from Myrtle Beach High School in 1955.  After receiving a business degree from Kings College in Charlotte, NC, Tommie moved to Eau Gallie, FL, where she met her first husband, Russell V. Zimmerman.  Together, they had four children.  In 1999, Tommie married Jim Hughes and they lived together in Edisto Island, SC.  She was an active member of the Episcopal church on Edisto and a member of The Daughters of the King.  Tommie worked at the Edisto Island museum as a docent and also in the gift shop.  All of these things were important to her. Unfortunately, due to becoming ill, Tommie wasn't able to take part in things she was passionate about and ended up moving in with her daughter who provided loving care in Concord, NC.
