Mr. Tommy Brodie Gantt, age 71 of 581 Weyburn Drive, Concord, NC, passed away on May 29, 2011 at Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 10 am until 11 am on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at Pitts Baptist Church, Concord, NC with the funeral following afterwards at 11 am. Pastor Scott Davis will officiate. The burial will follow at Morven Cemetery in Morven, NC with military honors. Tommy was born in Lexington County, SC on January 30, 1940. He was the son of Josephine and Albert Gantt. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Anne Adcock Gantt. Mr. Tommy Brodie Gantt is survived by his wife Nancy Ann Furr Gantt; sons, Joe Gantt and wife Rhonda of Garner, NC, Steven and wife Son Yong of Lugoff, SC, Anthony Gantt of Aiken, SC; daughter, Melissa Purvis of New London, NC; step-daughters, Patricia Lowder of Albemarle, NC and Kathy Morris of Albemarle, NC; a brother, Randy Gantt of Belvedere, SC; twenty grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; Also survived by Wendell Clamp, a life-long family friend and fellow Clemson University Supporter. He served in the United States Navy and was a retired building supervisor at the Savannah River Site. A member of Pitts Baptist Church in Concord, NC, he was a Red Cross Volunteer and he served in the Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort. He also served on a Baptist mission trip to the Ukraine. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tucker Hospice House, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081 or The Myositis Association, 1737 King Street, Suite 600, Alexandria, VA 22314. Hartsell Funeral Home is serving the Gantt family.
