Valera Lee

Valera Simmons Lee, 88, of Charlotte, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022 at her residence in Charlotte.

Mrs. Lee was born August 30, 1933 in Elizabeth, Louisiana to the late R.O. and Audrey Durio Simmons.

She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert E. Lee Jr., brother and sister-in-law’s, Tack and Betty Nail and Oliver Murray.

Survivors include her daughter, Vicki Lee Calvert of Charlotte, NC., her grandsons, Lee and Clay Calvert, her brother and sister-in-law, Lynn and Elaine Simmons, of Houston, TX, and Sister-in-law, Roberta Murray of Lufkin, TX. She was also blessed to have wonderful nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews in Texas.

Valera married Bob on March 31, 1957. She retired from Rowan Cabarrus Community College. She treasured her church family as well as her own family, friends and traveling.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm, Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home Chapel. Services will be officiated by Rev. Tommy Poarch and the Rev. Adam Jones. Burial will follow at the Carolina Memorial Park Kannapolis at Hwy. 29N at I85, Exit 58, Concord.
