Vallie Broadway Efird, 84, of Locust, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2020 at home with family by her side.
Vallie was born March 8, 1936 in Stanly County to the late Jesse Lee Broadway and the late Nola Mae Hahn Broadway. She was also preceded in death by husband, William Clayton Efird; daughter, Joyce Efird; grandson, Ronnie Dale Efird; and brother, Jesse Broadway, Jr.
Vallie was a loving mother, sister, and grandma. She retired from Stanly Knitting Mill where she worked the majority of her life. She liked to take trips to the beach with her sister and sister-in-law.
She was a strong willed woman who was head of her family, raising her three children and later raising three of her grandchildren.
She enjoyed the time she got to spend with family, friends, and neighbors.
Survivors include son, Joel Efird and wife, Pam, of Rockwell; son, William Efird and wife, Valerie, of Concord; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, two brothers; two sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday, June 4, 2020 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. The funeral service will be on Friday at 2:00 pm in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Providence Church of God Cemetery, 12474 NC 24/27 Highway, Locust.
