Van (Buddy) Rusmisel

Van (Buddy) Wayne Rusmisel, 75, of Kannapolis, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2021 at his residence in Kannapolis, NC.

Buddy was born November 13, 1945 to the late Van and Helen Rusmisel in Millboro, VA. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Ann Rusmisel and brother, Richard Rusmisel.

Van worked as a construction worker, farmer and mechanic for many years. On October 21, 1975 he married the love of his life Hilda Leffel and from this union came two handsome sons. Van and Hilda lived out their days in Kannapolis, NC.

Buddy was a member of the U.S. Army where he served his country with pride and dignity. He served in the Vietnam War before he left the service.

Survivors include son, Dwayne (Kelly) Rusmisel of Kannapolis, NC, son, Terry (Angie) Rusmisel; grandson, Cody Rusmisel; granddaughters, Melody Rusmisel, and Cloe King; and, sister, Ruth Drummond.

Buddy will be remembered as a loving friend, father and grandfather. He was great with his hands and was given the title jack of all trades. He loved cars and fast engines. He was a dirt track racer, loved to hunt and fish and loved panning for gold. He watched all the western shows and movies. Although he will be deeply missed, his love and legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched and loved dearly.

The family will receive friends Monday, January 25, 2021 from 11 -  11:45 am, at River of Life Family Worship Center, 1945 Old Earnhardt Rd., Kannapolis, NC. The funeral service will follow at 12 pm officiated by Pastor Brian Rabon. Burial will take place at Salisbury National Cemetery with full military honors.
