Vance M. Holland, 78, passed away at home Easter Sunday morning, April 21, 2019 with his wife by his side.  Vance was born on October 17, 1940, in Concord to the late Walter Holland and the late Margaret Kiser.  He worked as a printer and then a Supervisor at The Charlotte Observer for 15 years.  He also worked for himself as the owner of Holland Salvage.  Later he worked for Statesville Auto Auction.  After retiring, Vance drove a school bus which he enjoyed doing and loved the children.

In addition to his parents, Vance was preceded in death by a brother Bill Holland and a sister Iris Moore. Vance leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 58 years, Mrs. Pat Yates Holland, who loved him and took care of him;daughters, Tonda Smith (Jeff), Dee Jewell (Randy), son Chris ( Tina), sister Erlene Yessick of Texas and a half brother, Walter Holland of Tennessee. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren with a great grandchild due in October. Vance loved his family and loved for them to visit. He also loved spending time at the beach. In earlier years, he enjoyed watching his grandson drive a race car and especially loved spotting for him during races.

Vance was a member of the Westford United Methodist Church and attended until his health started failing.

A special thank you to the Staff at Hospice who showed a lot of compassion which was a blessing. Also, many thanks to Dr. Jerome Nymberg, who took exceptional care of Vance for a number of years and Vance thought very highly of him.
