Vassie Cranford

Vassie “Billie” Hartsell Cranford, age 87 of Richfield passed away on January 10, 2010 at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle. Born in Stanly County on February 20, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Joel and Cora Hartsell of Oakboro, NC. She was also preceded in death by her husband John Everette Cranford; three sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her daughter, June C. Almond and husband Terry of Richfield , and son David A. Cranford and wife Martha of Albemarle; grandsons, J.T. Cranford and wife Rebecca and Kevin Almond and wife Stacy; granddaughters, Tara A. Barajas and husband Ivan and Stacy Cranford; great grandsons, Zachery and Seth Almond. Mrs. Cranford was retired from the food service department at Pfeiffer University. She was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Richfield and was a member of the church WELCA. Friends are welcome to view and pay respect at the funeral home, Wednesday, prior to the service. However,the family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 pm at the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church Educational Building. Funeral service is 4:00 pm, Wednesday, January 13 at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Richfield, Rev. Graham Nahouse, Pastor officiating. Burial will be in Richfield Cemetery. The family will meet at the home of June and Terry Almond, 352 Culp Road, Richfield.
