Velda Avant

Velda Mae Urey Avant, 88 years of age, passed away Friday, January 20, 2012 at her home in Midland. Mrs. Avant was born December 4, 1923, in Cabarrus County to the late William Burrell Urey and Lela Mae Coley Urey. She was a nurse at Presbyterian Hospital and a long time member of Kilgo Methodist Church of Charlotte. Survivors include her son, Don Avant and his wife, Kim, of Midland; her grandchildren, Zachery, Gabriel, and Ashlee; and her great-grandson, Cooper James. There are no scheduled services at this time. Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is serving the Avant family.
