Velma Cranford

Velma Cranford, age 88 passed away on August 4, 2010 ?at her home, 37448 Barnhardt Road in Albemarle. Visitation will be Thursday, August 5, 2010 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Friday August 5, 2010, at Palestine UMC, Rev. David Nolan and the Rev. Boyd Joyce officiating. Burial will follow at Palestine UMC cemetery. At other times the family will be meeting at her home. Born in Stanly County to the late John Daniel Hopkins and Ella Jane Blalock Hopkins, Mrs. Cranford was also preceded in death by her husband Charlie Lee Cranford who passed away in 1994; two sons, Jerry Cranford, Robert Daniel Cranford; four sisters, Mary Drye, Bertha Donahue, Sallie Hatley, Emma Forte; three brothers, Jim Hopkins, Delma Hopkins, and Willie Hopkins; one granddaughter Donna Forsythe, and one great grandson, Walker Reid Cranford. She is survived by two sons; Lanny Cranford and wife Nancy, Doug Cranford and wife Debbie, all of Albemarle, NC; one daughter; Jane C. Smith and husband Don of Albemarle, six grandchildren and fourteen great –grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; special niece, Lillian Overbay and “Katie,” the cat.
