Venora "Sally" Burris Hill Parker, 91, formerly of 6091 Mt Pleasant Road South Concord passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Tucker Hospice House. She was born on July 26, 1920 in Cabarrus County to the late William Henry and Mary Elizabeth Layton Burris. She was also preceded in death by her first husband Floyd P. Hill in 1963 and her second husband J. Erskine Parker in 2004, a daughter Joyce Hill Faggart in 2006, step son Joe G. Parker, brothers Alvin, Stewart and Roy Burris, and sister Geneva Burris. She was retired from Cook’s Packing Plant in Concord, and was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church. A visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord on Friday, October 28, 2011 from 6 until 8 pm. Funeral services will be held at Friendship Methodist Church 4695 Mt. Pleasant Road South Concord, NC 28025 on Saturday, October 29th at 2 pm following a 30 min. state, with Rev. Dale Bost officiating. Burial will follow at the church. She is survived by: son, Alvin F. Hill and friend Myra Angel of Concord; daughter, Wanda H. Arthur and husband W. L. “Butch” of Concord; step-sons, W. Aaron Parker and wife Pattie both of Concord, Arthur Parker and wife Nancy of Charlotte, and David Parker and wife Dorothy of Gastonia; step-daughter-in-law, Jane Parker of Concord; brother, Rayvon Burris of Concord; sisters, Irene Burris Almond of Mt. Pleasant and Mina Burris Drye of Concord; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff of Tucker Hospice House and also the staff of The Oaks at Town Center in Harrisburg for their kindness, and loving support shown to Sally and her family. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friendship United Methodist Church 4695 Mt. Pleasant Road South Concord, NC 28025, or Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County 5003 Hospice Lane Kannapolis, NC 28081. Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord is serving the Parker family.
