Vera Pope

Vera Pope, age 87, died peacefully on Friday, January 27th, 2012, surrounded by her family. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle on Sunday, January 29 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Monday, January 30 at 2:00 PM at Grace Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Delane Burris. Burial will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory. Mrs. Pope was born on December 28, 1924, in Union County, the daughter of the late Francis “Bud” Trull and the late Lula Johnson Trull. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John Pope and her siblings. She is survived by her eight children; Connie Efird and her husband Martin, Judy Gilbert and her husband Gary, all of Mt. Gilead, Deborah Pope of Matthews, John “Skip” Pope, Jr. of Charlotte, Elizabeth Pope of Asheville, William “Bill” Pope and wife his Linda of Locust, David Pope of Point Harbor, Tommy Pope and his wife Teresa of Concord, as well as eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. The family wishes to express its gratitude to the staff of Spring Arbor Assisted Living Facility for providing dedicated, loving and compassionate care to Vera throughout her stay at the facility.
