Vernie Mae Medlin Holder, 84 years of age, of Concord, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
Vernie was born November 8, 1932 in Concord, NC to the late Howard Medlin and the late Eliza Mae Medlin. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Arnold Lawson McDonald; sons, Bobby Ray Holder, Jr. and Tony Douglas McDonald; as well as her sister, Iris Farmer.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Bob Holder; son, Arnold McDonald, Sr.; two grandchildren, Arnold McDonald, Jr. and Michelle Raynor; as well as two great grandchildren, Thomas McDonald and Marilyn Raynor; sisters, Jane McAnulty, Kay Garmon and Anna Lee McAnulty; brothers, Bill Medlin and Terry Medlin.
For nearly forty years, Vernie and her husband Bob loved to go camping at Lake Norman. She worked at Cannon Mills for 45 years as a weaver, and retired in 1996. Her family meant the world to her. She will be dearly missed.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Friday at 1:00 pm at Remedy Church, officiated by Pastor Cody Killian. Burial will follow at the Harrisburg Baptist Church Cemetery.
