Vernon Stiller

Vernon Lavon Stiller, 82, of Albemarle, passed away Friday, January 11, 2019.

Mr. Stiller was born February 14, 1936 to the late Robert Lee and Lillie Pearl Stiller. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Catherine Collins, Edna Hickam, Francis Almond and brothers, Ray Stiller, Eugene Stiller, Luke Stiller, Luther Stiller, David Stiller, Frank Stiller, Harold Stiller and Olin Stiller.

Vernon served his country in the Air National Guard and retired from Mechanical Contractors in Charlotte as a bookkeeper. He graduated from Badin High School and  Kings College, with an accounting degree. Vernon was a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where he served as an Ordained Deacon, Sunday School Secretary, Choir member and treasurer for over 45 years. Vernon enjoyed many hobbies such as, softball, bowling, fishing, football and was an avid Duke fan. He will be most remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Hartsell Funeral Home Albemarle. The funeral service will be held on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 2:00 pm located at Immanuel Baptist Church in Albemarle, officiated by Rev. Joe Smith and Pastor Clint Lewey. Entombment will follow at the Stanly Gardens of Memory at 2001 East Main St., Albemarle.

Survivors include: wife, Sue Hatley Stiller; daughter, Sandra Whaley and husband Michael; son, Freddie Stiller and wife Angie; grandchildren, David (Kim) Boysworth, Jonathan Boysworth, Jaclyn (Will) Allen, Seth (Fiancée Miranda) Stiller,  Amber Stiller; great-grandchildren, Tristan Boysworth, Mattie Boysworth ,Colt Boysworth and numerous nieces and nephews.
