Vernon Yates
February 24, 1938 — June 11, 2017
Vernon Wayne Yates, 79 years of age, of Concord, went to his heavenly home, Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
Vernon was born February 24, 1938 to the late Griffin and Elizabeth Yates. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ricky Yates. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a lifetime member of DAV, Chapter 27. He retired from Saia Trucking.
The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 PM, Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord.
Those left to treasure his memory include beloved wife of 56 years, Sarah McClure Yates; daughter, Tammy (George, Jr.) Geddings; son, Scott (Susan) Yates; daughter, Terri (Rusty) Llewellyn; daughter, Cindy Yates (Scott Plyler); seven grandchildren, Angie, Amanda, Adam, Terrell, Felicia, Lindsay, and Austin; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
