Violet Akins

Violet Wike Akins, 91, of Concord, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2012 at CMC-NorthEast in Concord. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1:30 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord on Thursday, March 1, 2012. The graveside service, officiated by Dr. Neil Haynes, will follow at 2 pm at Cold Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery, 2550 Cold Springs Rd., Concord. At other times the family will meet at the home of her son Joe, 3635 Cold Springs Rd. S., Concord. Violet was born on March 17, 1920, in Alexander County to the late Vergil and Nannie Munday Wike. She was also preceded in death by her husband Joseph William Akins, Sr. She is survived by: sons, Joseph Akins, Jr. of Concord, Terry Wayne Akins of Locust, Danny W. Akins of Albemarle; sister, Lola Lowe of Taylorsville; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Akins family.
