Virgil “Wesley” Roach, 71, of Concord, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2012, at Carolinas Medical Center - Northeast. The family will receive friends at Broadus Baptist Church, 59 Green Street, Concord, on Wednesday, August 29, 2012, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Rodney Quesenberry, will follow in the church at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at West Concord Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard. At other times the family will meet at the home. He was born on June 11, 1941, to the late John Wesley Roach and the late Alice Louise Bostian Roach. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Mike and Alfred Roach and an infant brother, Roger Roach. Wesley retired from Penske Truck Leasing. He was a member of Broadus Baptist Church and was involved in Smith’s Lake Flyers, an airplane club. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Myra Roach; two sons, Ryan Roach and wife, Allison of Georgia and Robert Roach of Stanley; a step-son, Keith Gardner of Concord; two grandchildren, Kyndoll Roach of Kannapolis and Avery Roach of Georgia; a brother, Tony Roach and wife, Kelly of Concord; two sisters, Shirley Boone and husband, David of Concord and Judy Boone and husband, Danny of Kannapolis; and numerous nieces and nephews. Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Roach family.
