Virginia Compton
March 4, 1935 — September 25, 2017
Virginia Dale Bryant Smith Compton, 82, of Concord, left her earthly home, Monday, September 25, 2017 and immediately entered her heavenly home.
She was born March 4, 1935 in Robeson County, NC. Virginia was a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church and active member until her health declined in 2008. She was one of 13 children born to the late Willie French Bryant and Lula Barton Bryant. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry Franklin Smith, Sr.; second husband, Judson T. Compton; and her precious baby boy Judson Talmage Compton, Jr. whom she is now cuddling in her loving arms. She was also preceded in death by five sisters, Mable, Lessie, Erma, Nancy, Ether Lee; and brothers, Henry, William and Bradford.
Surviving to cherish her memory and all the hilarious years of laughter and joy we shared with our precious mother are her children, Deloroes Smith Garmon, Antony Skyler Smith, Vivian Smith Meletis, Henry F. Smith, Jr., John Austin Smith and Judy Compton Booth. She is also survived by three brothers, Samuel, Junior and Palmer Ray Bryant; twelve grandchildren, Billy Wayne Drye, Hannah Smith, Miranda Smith Oglesby, Chad Garrett Smith, Kenneth Mills, Jack Smith III, Sherrie Smith Castor, Matthew and Samantha Smith, Hunter Booth, Rene Smith Newton, and Austin Jr.; as well as ten great-grandchildren, Landon, Lily and Zane Smith, Cody, Gavin, Jason and Benjamin Newton, and Brody, Chasity and Chloe Drye; and two great-great grandchildren, Beyleigh and Mackenzie.
Please join us in a Celebration of Virginia's Life, 11:00 am, Friday, September 29, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel of Concord, officiated by Rev. Terry Smith. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery, Concord.
