Virginia Proctor

Mrs. Virginia Elizabeth Little Proctor, 95, a native of Concord passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Caldwell County Hospice. She had been a resident of Lenoir Park Assisted Living Center for almost a year. She was born on February 18, 1916 in Cabarrus County to the late Sarah Holbrook and Doctor Craven Little, Sr.. She married Everette Alexander "Shorty" Proctor on December 21, 1940 who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by 7 siblings and a grandson Jonathan L. Proctor. Having met Mr. J.C. Penny and subscribing to his philosophy and practice of "The Golden Rule", she joined his workforce and was a dedicated employee until her retirement in 1976. She loved her church, Kerr Memorial Baptist, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher for more than 50 years. She also held numerous other church offices during her long membership. Virginia was a wonderful and gentle woman who graced this earth with her kind words and loving deeds for others. Both Virginia and "Shorty" always made loving sacrifices for their children for which they will always be grateful. A visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord on Tuesday, February 21, 2011 from 1 until the time of service. A Memorial service will follow in the chapel,at 2PM with Rev. Dr. Stanley Spence and Rev. J. Bradford Jones officiating. Burial will be at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis. She is survived by: son, David Lee Proctor and wife Ellen of Concord; daughter, Sue Ellen Proctor Brookshire and husband Nelson of Lenoir; step-granddaughters, Keely Campbell McMahan and husband David of Irmo, SC, Julie Lawson and husband Jeff of Hickory; step-grandson Andrew Brookshire and wife Erinn of Asheville; step-great- grandchildren, Justice Lawson and Emily McMahan. In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to Kerr Memorial Baptist Church 25 Highway 49 South Concord, NC 28025-8936. Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Proctor family.
