Virginia Rossi, 93, passed away Monday, September 14, 2015.
Virginia Ione Rossi was born January 28th, 1922 in Morris, Illinois to Ray Clair and Goldie Arilla Hollenbeck Van Zandt.
She was predeceased by her husband of 72 years, Colonel, retired John Edward Rossi.
She is survived by her son, Major, retired, Jay E. Rossi, wife Cynthia of Matthews, NC; her granddaughter, Dr. Heather Lynn Rossi, husband, James Pennington of Wynnewood, PA; and her sister, Linda Lou Waller of TN.
Virginia was a 1943 graduate of the Morris Hospital School of Nursing. She did private duty nursing before her marriage to John (Eddie) and while he served overseas during World War II.
Virginia traveled the world with John during his 29 years of army active duty. She and John were long time North Carolina residents. After several tours of duty stationed at Fort Bragg, Virginia and John retired to enjoy many years on the NC coast at Harkers Island, where they fished, painted, and took a variety of extension courses. They arrived in Concord in 1993 to be close to their son and his family
