Virginio Tandoc DeLeon, 80, of Charlotte, NC entered into eternal rest at home on Friday, January 8th 2021 surrounded by his loving family.
Born on May 21, 1940 in Mangaldan Pangasinan Philippines to Pedro Quinto DeLeon and Petra Tandoc DeLeon he was the 4th of his 7 siblings.
Virginio spent 20 years in the US Navy as an Electric Tactical Warfare Technician before retiring in 1979. While serving his country, he met the love of his life, Cleofe Basconcillo in Charleston, SC and they married in 1973. They had two beautiful daughters, Lorelei Propst (David) of Charlotte, NC and Gina DeLeon Hayes (Kevin) of Santa Clarita, CA. Nothing gave Virginio more happiness than being a husband, father and grandfather.
After his retirement from the US Navy, Virginio decided to make Charlotte, NC his permanent home. While in Charlotte, Virginio began a career as a Field Service Engineer and later working for Diasonics which was later acquired by GE Medical Systems where he worked as a Tech, traveling to local hospitals repairing ultrasound, echocardiogram and MRI machines.
Virginio was a devout Christian and served God faithfully as a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church up until the time of his passing.
Known for his generosity, charming personality and his sense of fashion, Virginio had a special way of making everyone feel comfortable. During his life you could find him enjoying his favorite hobbies; creating photo collages of his family, gardening, enjoying old western movies, being the life of the party at family functions and most of all spending time with all his girls. His impact will never be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Ursula DeLeon, brothers, Ismael and Nestor DeLeon and granddaughter, Maya Elizabeth Propst.
Survivors include wife, Cleofe DeLeon of Charlotte, NC, daughters, Lorelei Propst (David) of Charlotte, NC and Gina DeLeon Hayes (Kevin) of Santa Clarita, CA, sisters Ligaya McFarlane and Herma Quinto and brother, Abelardo DeLeon and granddaughters, Alexis Propst, Laya DeLeon Hayes and Rachel Propst along with many nieces and nephews.
The family will be receiving family and friends on Tuesday, January 19th from 5pm- 7pm at the Hartsell Funeral Home in Harrisburg, NC. The funeral mass service will be held the following day at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Charlotte, NC at 10:30am and officiated by Fr. Matthew Bean.
